How to Create a Private Flipbook

Short answer

HB Flipbook gives you three levels of privacy: keep a flipbook unpublished so only your workspace can see it, add a password so only people who know it can read past the cover, or require a contact form so readers identify themselves first.

Pick the right level

1. Keep it unpublished

All plans
Uploaded flipbooks start unpublished. Only people in your workspace can open them in the editor. To take a live flipbook offline, press Unpublish.

2. Add a password

Starter and above
Readers see the cover and must enter the password to continue. Follow the password guide.

3. Require a contact form

Pro and above
Set Lead capture to “Required before viewing”. Readers see the cover and must submit the form to continue. See lead capture forms.

Keep it off public listings

Password-protected and form-gated flipbooks stay off your Public Page unless you deliberately turn them on, both for the workspace and for that flipbook. HB Flipbook also never features a publication unless you opt in on its Settings tab.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a single “private” switch?

No. Privacy depends on what you need: unpublished for nobody, a password for people you choose, or a required lead form for people who identify themselves.

Can people find an unpublished flipbook?

No. An unpublished flipbook isn't available to visitors at its link.

Do protected flipbooks appear on my Public Page?

Not unless you turn on both the matching Public Page setting and Display on public publisher page for that flipbook.

Can HB Flipbook feature my flipbook without asking?

No. Featuring needs you to turn on “Allow HB Flipbook to feature this publication”, and only publicly viewable flipbooks are considered.
